However, you shouldn’t worry about that stubborn area because a recent study just found that this workout, presented in this article is particularly appropriate at burning off belly—a.k.a. visceral—fat.
Besides that visceral fat is not only a pain in the butt, but it is also extra unhealthy and surrounds several important organs and located in the abdominal cavity. As plenty of people, especially women are concern about their status, researchers looked into certain types of training that could slim this particular area.
The study, published in the Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, emphasized the results of the participants who did four workouts a week, relying on various types of exercise. The first group did strength workouts and four steady-state cardio, while the second group did two high-intensity interval training and two steady-state workouts.
Results: The second (HIIT) group, compared to the group that stuck to the steady-state gym routine, showed better results in losing more weight overall, but also lost more inches along their waistline, reducing in visceral fat.
Added bonus: the HIIT group also saw an increase in cardiorespiratory fitness.
The researchers explained why it happened, emphasizing that HIIT workouts are short and intense, which is allowing you to push your body to the limit, and the HIIT does such a killer job at burning the most unshakable fat.
