Tamarind is a type of tree that grows well in tropical climates, originated from Africa. Today it can be found growing in all tropical regions across the globe, particularly in South Asia and Mexico.

The fruits of tamarinds are used in different cuisines around the world. The taste of its fruit (the pulp) is sour when raw and turns sweet as it ripens.
