Many researchers found that the sugar is one of our biggest health concerns and realized that sugar makes up 10 percent or fewer of the daily calorie intake.

In its natural level, sugar is a relatively harmless carbohydrate that our bodies need to function. It can be found in vegetables, fruits and dairy as a compound known as lactose or fructose. The problem occurs when the sugar is added to foods during processing for added color, texture or flavor.

The sugar is as addictive as cocaine, so the more you eat, the more you want.

Eating too many of empty calories, as a result of excess sugar, can cause many health problems, such weight gain, driving your insulin levels up, causing calories to turn right into belly fat and disorders with your metabolism. And while losing weight is well, that’s just the beginning of the health benefits of cutting the sugar in your diet.

Here are 12 tips that we are offering you in order to reduce the intake of sugar:

  1. Admit you’re an addict

If you’re irritable when you don’t have sugar, crave for an afternoon treat, you eat cake for breakfast or get defensive or angry when people talk about eliminating sugar from their diets you might be an addict. Try to avoid all these situations and you will succeed to quit sugar.

  1. Define Sugar

As the sugar is everywhere around you, it is very important to know what exactly are you quitting.  It is the most important to define exactly what’s off limits and what you CAN have.

  1. Get it Out of Your House

You should take your temptation away. All sweets you desire immediately throw out. Quit buying the candies, chocolate chips and everything else that is on your known list of downfalls. This is not just for you to do it, it can be a rule for the rest of your family, and all will benefit from you throwing the junk out.

By doing that, you’re on the right way of defense.  You should make it more appropriate.

Instead of your downfalls buy other quick and easy snacks to chew on, such raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds and all natural fruit leather.

  1. Stay Well Fed

In the situation, you are starving you make the worst food choices. Don’t skip meals. You should get healthy snacks on hand.

  1. Give it 2 Weeks

For many, quitting of habits, the first couple of weeks are hard. Some people need 2 weeks to get the sugar out of their system and some 3 weeks. It is similar to detoxing from a drug. Looking the people around you eating the foods you like will be so difficult for you. But you’ve got to hang on, it gets better.

  1. Drink Lots of Water

A big glass of cold water will be of great help when you are having a really bad desire for sugar. Besides the cleansing and detoxifying the body water is great in helping with cravings. It is recommended some lemon or lime wedges.

  1. Treat Yourself

In the process of quitting sugar doesn’t mean to avoid “treats” in your life.  For the first few weeks, it is recommended to avoid any sort of treat.  As that is not good in the long run we are offering you some of the “treats”:

In the situation when you eliminate the sugary stuff from your home, make sure you’ve replaced it with something else because your family should not be “punished” for your new lifestyle. Of course, keeping a secret stash somewhere from them can be a good idea.

  1. Give Yourself a Free Pass

While you are quitting sugar, you may go ALL IN and expel all junk food and commit to running that “marathon”. That’s an awesome responsibility when dealing with something as addictive as sugar.

It is not recommended to quit everything all at once.
